How our travel clinic works

Every trip is different. We look at where you are going, how long for and your health, then agree a plan with you.

  1. Your destination first

We check the latest travel health advice for every country on your route.

  2. The right vaccines

We recommend only the vaccines you need and explain each one before it is given.

  3. Plan ahead

Some vaccines need more than one dose, so book 6 to 8 weeks before you travel where you can.

  4. Travel medicines

Ask about malaria tablets and other travel medicines during your consultation.

Before your appointment

  • Have your travel dates and destinations ready
  • Bring any vaccination records you have
  • Tell us about any medicines, allergies or pregnancy

Travel vaccinations FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book.

How far ahead should I book?

Ideally 6 to 8 weeks before you travel, because some vaccines need more than one dose. If you are leaving sooner, book anyway and we will do what we can.

Do I need a consultation first?

Your appointment includes a travel consultation, where we check your trip and health before recommending vaccines.

Can I get malaria tablets?

Yes, where they are suitable. We advise on the right option for your destination during the consultation.

Are travel vaccines free on the NHS?

Some travel vaccines are free from your GP. Others are private. We can tell you which apply to your trip.

Can the whole family come together?

Yes. Book an appointment for each person travelling.
