How the weight loss service works

Treatment works best alongside changes to diet and activity. We start with a consultation and keep checking in with you.

    We check your weight, BMI, health and medicines to see which options are safe for you.

  2. Treatment if suitable

    If a medicine is right for you, our prescriber explains how to use it and what to expect.

  3. Regular reviews

    We review your progress and side effects before each new supply.

  4. Lifestyle support

    Practical advice on eating, activity and sleep to help you keep the weight off.

Is this service right for you?

Weight loss injections are not suitable for everyone, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding and with some medical conditions. We will only prescribe when it is safe. If you have severe stomach pain, contact NHS 111 or urgent care.

Who can use weight loss injections?

They are usually for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition. We confirm this at your consultation.

Do I need to see you in person?

Your first appointment includes a check of your weight and health. We will explain how follow-up reviews work.

What does treatment cost?

Prices depend on the medicine and dose, for example Mounjaro from £139 and Wegovy from £130 a month. The consultation is free.

Are there side effects?

Feeling sick, constipation or diarrhoea are common at first. We explain what to expect and how to manage them.

How long will I need treatment?

It depends on your progress and goals. We review this with you at each check-in.
